After Google Duo has been set up, every time you open the app, the first thing you will see is the user-interface which consists of the split screen with the camera view on top and the search bar below.

 

Follow the simple steps below to make a video call:

 

  1. Type in the name of the contact that you would like to video call in the search bar
  2. Select the person’s name from the list
  3. Tap the Video call icon at the bottom of the display screen in the middle

 

When you make a video call for the first time, Google Duo will tell you “Smile! Knock Knock is on” and you will be notified as to whether or not the person you’re calling has you as a contact.

 

If the person has you as a contact, you will appear on their display screen while the phone is ringing.

 

When you video call someone, you will see a display screen that will alert you that your video is visible, then you will see the name or the phone number of the person you’re video calling at the top of the display screen and the end call button at the bottom.

 

If you’re using your phone and someone calls you on Google Duo, you will see an incoming video call display screen.

 

This will include a view of whatever your caller’s camera sees, their name and phone number as well as a button to answer the call and one to end it.

 

If you’re not using your phone, you will receive a notification that says you have an incoming video call, however, this all depends on your notification settings.

 

When you answer a video call, or if someone answers your video call, you will see the video call display screen, this will show you a view of whatever the person’s camera is seeing and four buttons.

Launch the Google Duo app and when you arrive at the main interface with the camera view and the search bar, you will notice that there are three horizontal dots in the upper right-hand corner of the display screen.
