At the end of August Verizon unveiled their new LTE-Advanced in over 450 cities throughout the U.S. this new technology raised speeds by as much as 50%. The Verizon customers who would like to take advantage of this must have an LTE Advanced enabled smartphone or tablet.
A few days ago T-Mobile Chief Technology Officer Neville Ray wrote the following in a blog post “Really? LTE Advanced? That same technology has been available to T-Mobile customers since 2014”.
Neville Ray also stated that T-Mobile will be doubling its speeds with a technology he refers to as being “2016” which is called 4×4 MIMO (multiple input, multiple output).
This new technology will allow T-Mobile to double the number of data paths from a cell tower to your phone which will allow data speeds to be up to two times faster.
The T-Mobile’s LTE technology paired with the new 4×4 MIMO will make T-Mobile’s max data speed faster than anything Verizon has as the moment.
T-Mobile is currently rolling out another new piece of technology which is called 256 QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) for downloads and 64 QAM for uploads. This new technology will allow T-Mobile to offer data speeds as fast as 400Mbps in the near future.
