The Galaxy Note 9 has retained quite a few features from that of its predecessor, however, they have been refined. But there are also some great new features that have been added to this phone which makes it one of the best phones of the year.

Samsung became a trendsetter in the smartphone industry with the establishment of the Galaxy Note line. Samsung was the first smartphone manufacturer to offer big screen phones, long before they became hip.

Samsung was also the first manufacturer to offer a phone with a curved display screen.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Design:

The Galaxy Note 9 looks very similar to its predecessor, this is due to the fact that the bodies of the phones are almost identical. Both phones are 6.4 inches in length and 0.34 inches deep.

However, the Galaxy Note 9’s display screen is slightly larger, it’s 6.4 inches in comparison to the Galaxy Note’s 8 6.3-inch display screen.

The display screen on the Galaxy Note 9 is the biggest display screen that Samsung has ever placed on a phone. This phone is slightly heavier than that of the Galaxy Note 8. However, the difference isn’t noticeable.

The placement of the fingerprint sensor has been changed. The fingerprint sensor is now located below the dual-camera lens. This makes it a bit easier for people with small hands to unlock the phone.

Hardware:

The Galaxy Note 9 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

This phone has the same buttons, fingerprint sensor, MicroSD card slot, USB-C port, headphone jack, and speakers as the Galaxy S9 Plus.

If you need more storage, the internal storage in this phone is expandable up to 2TB via the MicroSD card slot. That should be more than enough storage for most people.

The Galaxy Note 9 also has the same IP68 dust and water resistant rating. The cameras on the Galaxy Note 9 are also the same, however, the software that powers it is different.

This phone comes equipped with a 4000mAh battery, this is the biggest battery that Samsung has ever placed on a phone.

The dimensions of this phone are 161.9 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm and it’s available in lavender purple and ocean blue in the U.S. and metallic copper and midnight black internationally.

Display:

The display screen on the Galaxy Note 9 is made from Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It’s a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display screen with a resolution of 2960×1440 and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

It’s the same display screen from the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9 Plus.

This display screen is absolutely stunning. However, many smartphone users today have very high expectations and they expect every new phone to have a better display screen that of its predecessor.

It seems as though Samsung couldn’t find a way to improve the display screen within the past year.

The colors on this display screen are rich and deep and the display screen is brighter than that of its predecessors. The brightness of this display screen is 710 nits on the light meter.

The color reproduction on the Galaxy Note 9 is amazing, it reproduces 224 % of the sRGB color gamut. This is better than the majority of the premium smartphones which are currently on the market.

The display screen on the Galaxy Note 9 is great, there aren’t too many smartphone users who would be unhappy with it.

New Features And Functionalities On The Galaxy Note 9:

These are some of the new features on the Galaxy Note 9 that sets it apart from its predecessors as well as its competition.

The AI dual camera setup located at the back of the Galaxy Note 9 has the ability to recognize over 20 different types of scenes.

This camera does a good job recognizing what it sees, and it makes real-time adjustments to the settings to get the absolute best photo.

You can transform your Galaxy Note 9 into a mini PC via DeX without the dock. Doing this will enable you to use the display screen on the phone as a touchpad.

The phone comes with a 4,000 mAh battery, this is the biggest battery that Samsung has ever used in a phone. I think it was a great decision for Samsung to add a bigger battery.

Hopefully, this will set a trend which other smartphone manufacturers will start following. The 4,000 mAh battery is a big improvement from the 3,300 mAh battery of the Galaxy Note 8.

There is also a water-carbon fiber cooling system which was implemented to prevent the phone from overheating.

The S Pen Has Been Upgraded:

The S Pen on the Galaxy Note 9 is much more than a stylus, it’s also a remote control. The S Pen has Bluetooth connectivity which gives you the ability to give presentations, take selfies, switch lenses and take pictures from further away.

Bluetooth connectivity was added to the Note 9 to enable the S Pen to be used as a remote control for the phone instead of just using it as a stylus.

The features of the S Pen remote button can be customized. If you perform a long press of the remote button you will have the ability to open any app you would like to in the S Pen remote settings.

You can assign actions to a single click as well as a double click for any app that is compatible with the S Pen. There aren’t many apps which are compatible at the moment, however, this will probably change in the future.

This S Pen also has all the features its predecessor possesses. Some of these features include the ability to translate languages as well as the ability to write notes on the display screen when the display screen is off.

Wow the Samsung Note 9 sounds pretty amazing. I like that it has a larger screen and the weight is not a big difference from the 8. You are right about it being pricey, but it seems to be the trend with all the new phones, but I will take the price if the battery is solid. It makes it an easier purchase buying a phone with a decent battery. Thank you for the review.
