The Jitterbug Smart2 is a user-friendly smartphone which possesses a variety of health services for seniors.
This is a low budget, no contract phone which has a bright 5.5-inch display screen with a custom user interface, a 13-megapixel camera, and voice over LTE.
The Jitterbug Smart2 is marketed towards seniors with a low income and the Jitterbug health services are something that many seniors will appreciate having on their phones.
If you would like to have the Basic Health And Safety Plans then you should know that these packages cost a bit more money.
Jitterbug Smart2 Hardware:
The Smart2 is an Alcatel A30 Plus which has custom GreatCall software built into the interface.
The dimensions of the phone are 5.98 x 0.33 x 3.03-inch, it has a 5.5-inch display screen that has 720p, and it weighs 5.57-ounces.
The phone is made primarily of plastic, the selfie camera is a 5-megapixel camera located at the back of the phone you will find the 13-megapixel primary camera.
The phone comes equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and a micro USB charging jack.
The Smart2 comes with a 1.5GHZ Mediatek 6738 processor which runs on a customized version of Android 7.0 Nougat.
This phone isn’t fast and responsive by any means, it’s a bit slow. However, it works fine for performing basic tasks.
The user interface is simple and user-friendly, and it focuses a bit more on using words and less on icons.
The text is large and bold which makes it easy to read and your options are always labeled in a clear and concise manner.
The buttons on the touch keyboard are big and they are spaced out nicely. There is an option for voice dictation if you would prefer to use the phone this way.
For performing basic tasks, the Smart2 is much more user friendly than an iPhone or an Android phone.
However, it isn’t very loud, the volume is noticeably lower than that of the volume on your average smartphone that’s currently on the market. This is a bit disappointing.
This phone supports voice-over-LTE with HD Voice on the Verizon network but it does not support the latest EVS encoder which would enhance the voice quality.
The Smart2 comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, the battery will last for one full day of moderate use.
However, if you plan on streaming lots of videos then the battery life will be significantly shorter as a result of this.
The 13-megapixel primary camera and the 5-megapixel selfie camera are not the best.
If you take photos in a well lit setting the picture quality is okay, however, photos taken in a darker setting are a bit noisy.
If you’re a senior who enjoy taking lots of high-quality photos with your phone then this may not be the best phone for you.
GreatCall is a carrier that primarily focuses on seniors which runs on the Verizon network.
If you don’t spend too much time talking on the phone, there are plans you can choose which will offer you a limited amount of minutes per month.
This is a great way to save money, however, if you would prefer to have the unlimited plan, you will get 1000MB of data for $49.99 per month.
Basic Health And Safety Plans:
As I stated earlier, if you would like to get the basic health and safety plans then you will have to pay a bit more money for it.
The most basic health and safety plan costs $24.99 per month and with this plan you will have access to emergency responders and nurses via the telephone.
This service also gives your close relatives the ability to monitor the location of your phone via their smartphone.
The plan for $34.99 per month gives you the ability to talk to a human operator by dialing ‘0’ this operator can help you if you’re having problems using your phone.
Or if you’re not feeling well and you need an ambulance, the operator can call the ambulance on your behalf.
These Jitterbug services are extremely unique, there are no other carriers who offer these types of services for seniors.
If you would prefer not to use the Basic Health And Safety Plans, and you think the other plans are too expensive for you.
You can always save money by using a less expensive prepaid carrier.
My Final Thought:
If you’re a senior who is looking for a simple, user-friendly smartphone who will appreciate having the basic health and safety plans at your finger tips, the Smart2 may be a great fit for you.
The cameras on this phone may not be the best and the volume could have been louder.
However, the Smart2 is an affordable smartphone and the service that comes with the phone possesses quite a few unique features that you will not find anywhere else.
