The long-awaited iPhone 7 has finally arrived, smartphone enthusiasts have been speculating about this phone for quite some time now. The look and feel of the iPhone 7 is very similar to that of its predecessor the iPhone 6s, however, the iPhone 7 is more efficient and functions better than that of its predecessor.

iPhone 7 The Home Button:
There’s a new Home button on the iPhone 7, in the previous iPhones the Home button was a separate entity that made a clicking sound whenever it was pressed. The new Home button on the iPhone 7 is not a separate entity, it’s merged with the rest of the phone.
The button is slightly indented and it’s in the middle of the Touch ID’s metal ring which is slightly elevated from the surface of the phone.
Apple’s implementation of this new home button was necessary to make the phone waterproof. When you press the Home button it does not click it produces a small vibration to let you know that the button has been pressed, Apple refers to this as haptic feedback.
In the menu, you have the ability to customize the amount of haptic feedback you get when you press the Home button.
The Home button is capacitive, this means that you cannot press it through cloth, however, some recent reports suggest that if you press the Home button while wearing capacitive gloves it will work just fine.
Display Screen And Storage:
Apple did a great job on the display screen, the display screen is bright and it supports a wider color gamut than that of its predecessors. The rich, vibrant colors provide a great user experience, whether you’re looking at videos or photos, you will be pleased with the overall quality of the display screen on this phone.
The storage has been doubled, the iPhone 7 that comes with the least amount of storage is now 32GB that’s up from 16GB. Then there’s the 128GB, and the 256GB phones, so there’s three options to choose from depending on the amount of internal storage you would like.
Splash Water Resistance And Dust Resistance:
There are a few smartphones on the market that claim to be water resistant, we’ve all see the videos of people testing them out because everyone would like to know whether or not they are truly water resistant.
Apple says that the phone is splash water resistant and dust resistant so it must not be submerged in water.
Even though Apple claims that the iPhone 7 is splash water resistant they stated that they would prefer if you do not get the phone wet on purpose.
However, if you accidentally get the phone wet you should disconnect all cables and dry the phone with a soft lint-free cloth and you should wait at least five hours before charging or connecting a Lightning accessory.
One of the major advancements of the iPhone 7 is the A10 Fusion, Apple stated that the A10 Fusion chip that’s housed inside the iPhone 7 has four cores. Two low-energy cores which will handle easier jobs while conserving power, and two high-performance cores which will handle the most difficult tasks.
This phone is fast and efficient the updates are installed quickly, the Apps and the camera are extremely quick as well.
Every time a new smartphone comes out the manufacturers would often say that it’s faster and more efficient than the previous phone, however, this isn’t always true. But in this case, it’s very true the iPhone 7 is the fastest most efficient iPhone to date.
Even though the A10’s power management features allow the phone to work more efficiently the battery life of the iPhone 7 is not very good.
The phone comes equipped with image stabilization, TrueTone flash which is 50 percent brighter because it has four LEDs, and a 12-megapixel iSight camera which is much better than that of its predecessors.
This camera has an aperture of f1.8 this is wider which is great because it allows more light into the photos which will give you the ability to take better photos in a dark setting.
This is a powerful camera which makes it easier to take great photos in different settings. The camera has the ability to refocus relatively quickly, for example, if the camera is focused on an object and you move forward or backward the camera will refocus very quickly on the object while softening the background.
Whether you’re taking photos in a well-lit area or a darker setting the quality is great with lots of detail and the iOS 10 allows third-party apps to capture RAW data from the camera, however, the stock Camera apps will save the images in a JPEG format.
The selfie camera has also been improved from a 5-megapixel to a 7-megapixel camera, however, the f2.2 aperture is the same. This camera can record video in 1080p as well, this is an improvement from the iPhone 6s, both cameras on the iPhone 7 are great.
The Headphone Jack Has Not Been Retained:
The iPhone 7 has not retained the headphone jack, however, if you would like to use headphones you can get a pair of Bluetooth headphones or wait until the Apple AirPods have been released. If you’re not too picky about headphones you can always use the headphones that come with the phone.
It’s a pair of Lightning EarPods they are very similar to the old EarPods that were made for the previous iPhones, however, it has a Lightning plug at the end instead of a 3.5mm plug. The iPhone also comes with a 3.5mm adapter which will allow you to plug in any analog headphones that you may already own.
My Final Thought:
I think Apple did a good job with the iPhone 7, the main selling points for this phone is the camera, storage space, and the speed. The iPhone 7 is a good phone but I dislike the Home button, it just feels a bit unnatural.
I rarely use headphones but if you’re someone who enjoys using headphones the removal of the headphone jack may annoy you. Please let me know your thoughts on the iPhone 7 in the comment section below.
