How To Unlock A Verizon Phone

Do you currently own a Verizon Cell Phone? Would you like to have it unlocked? If you answered yes to those questions you have come to the right place. Unlocking a Verizon cell phone is not as difficult to do as it is with some of the other cell phone service providers on the market.

A Verizon cell phone is a bit easier to manage because the SIM card slot on the majority of Verizon cell phones are unlocked by default. Verizon along with the majority of other cell phone service providers in the U.S. will allow their customers to unlock their cell phones if the customers meet a certain criteria. How do you determine whether or not you meet this criteria?

The Criteria For Unlocking Your Cell Phone:

The cell phone you have must not be reported as a lost or stolen cell phone and it cannot be associated with fraudulent activity in any way whatsoever.

Your account must be in good standing, if you had purchased your phone on a two year contract, you must have fulfilled that contract in its entirety and you must not owe any money.

If you had purchased your cell phone on a two year payment plan or if your cell phone was financed, your phone must be fully paid for. So if you match this criteria and you would like to pursue a different cell phone service provider with your Verizon cell phone you can do that.

The Process Of Unlocking Your Cell Phone:

Here is something important to consider, even though you may be able to use your Verizon cell phone on T-Mobile, AT&T and other GSM network carriers. If your Verizon cell phone does not have GSM radios you will not be able to use it for making phone calls or texting within the U.S.

The newer Verizon phones are a bit more sophisticated therefore they will be able to work on the American GSM network, however the LTE service you receive will vary depending on the type of cell phone you have. You should consult with the service provider that you plan on switching to and tell them about your cell phone and ask them if it would be compatible with their service.

If you get the okay from your new service provider and you’re ready to make the switch you should call *611 from your Verizon cell phone, or (800)922-0204 to get your Verizon cell phone unlocked. To read more about Verizon’s policy for unlocking a cell phone you can click here.

  1. That is an easy step. All you need to do is call Verizon to unlock it.
Will they ask for details before unlocking the phone? Like who own this phone?

I will make sure that all standings are clear before unlocking the phone.

Do you have certain type of phones that are a bit troublesome to unlock?

    • Yes it’s simple, you have to make sure that your phone is compatible though. And you will need your Verizon account info when making this call, if you’re trying to unlock a Sprint phone it will not be so easy.
