Lately, there’s been quite a bit of talk about foldable phones. In this blog post, I will tell you about the foldable phones that we are expecting in 2019.
It seems as though foldable phones will become a trend in 2019. There have been rumors for a few years now that Samsung will be releasing a foldable phone.
But we’re still awaiting the arrival of this phone. The foldable phones that will be released in 2019 will be much more advanced than the foldable phones we had some years ago.
The new foldable phones will come equipped with bendable display screens. The Royole FlexPai was released last October.
This phone was released by a startup company in Fremont, California. The FlexPai can be used as a tablet but also has the ability to fold and be used as a phone.
When the FlexPai is folded the display screen is located on the outside of the phone. This phone runs on an OS called Water which works in conjunction with Google Android 9.0.
Google has already stated that they will provide Android support for foldable designs. As a result of this, we can assume that many more smartphone manufacturers will start following the trend.
Apple Patent Application:
In 2017 Apple filed for a patent an application for a phone with a foldable display screen and body.
However, this phone has not been released as yet and Apple hasn’t stated anything about this phone in quite some time.
Samsung Galaxy X Or Galaxy F:
For quite some time now there have been lots of rumors about Samsung releasing a foldable phone named either the Galaxy X or Galaxy F which means Galaxy Flex or Fold.
This phone is expected to be launched in March 2019. Samsung gave the general public a glimpse of the Galaxy X prototype during its developer’s conference in November last year.
Samsung didn’t give very much details about the phone. However, they told us that the phone will have a 4.5-inch display screen when it’s folded and a 7.3-inch display screen when the screen is opened.
Samsung also stated that the phone will use Samsung’s new One UI interface. The phone will also feature a new polymer display which was developed by Samsung called Infinity Flex Display.
The Infinity Flex display is expected to be able to flex hundreds of thousands of times without breaking.
Huawei Has Confirmed A Foldable Phone:
In June 2018 at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, Huawei confirmed its first 5G phone. This phone is expected to be announced in February and is expected to be released at the end of June 2019.
This phone is expected to have a foldable display screen. However, rumor has it that this phone will not be coming to the U.S. due to security reasons.
The U.S. government has banned the sale of Huawei phones on U.S. military bases. Shortly thereafter, cell phone retailers stopped selling Huawei’s products.
Xiaomi Has Confirmed Dual Flex or Mix Flex:
Last Wednesday, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi introduced its new foldable phone on Weibo, a social media platform.
This phone differs from the other phones we’ve seen or heard about thus far. The other phones that I’ve mentioned in this blog post only fold once, straight down the middle.
However, Xiaomi’s phone folds into thirds, Xiaomi’s president and co-founder Bin Lin stated this form factor is “practical and beautiful” and it “perfectly merges the experience of a tablet and a phone.”
No pricing information or specs have been given thus far, never the less, Xiaomi is taking votes on two possible names for the phone: Dual Flex or MIX Flex.
