If you’re someone who enjoys taking lots of photos with your phone you should consider getting the Google Pixel 2 if you don’t already have it. The primary camera on the Pixel 2 is a 12-megapixel camera with a f/1.8 aperture, on paper this may not look impressive.
However, the Pixel 2 takes extremely high-quality photos with great detail. Whether taking photos in a well-lit setting or a darker setting, the Pixel 2 manages to do a better job than the competition.

The original Pixel phone has a great camera, however, the camera on the Pixel 2 is even better due to the technological advancements in the software and the hardware.
What makes the difference in the Pixel 2 is the laser-assisted autofocus feature, the electronic and optical image stabilization, and dual-pixel phase-detection in conjunction with the f/1.8 aperture.
What Distinguishes The Pixel 2 From The Competition?

The Auto-HDR+ mode is turned on by default but you have the ability to disable it if you prefer to do so. However, Google did a great job with the camera on this phone and I don’t think anyone would be interested in disabling the Auto-HDR+ mode.

The dynamic range in the photos that are taken with this phone is amazing. This means that you will have a nice contrast between the darkest and lightest parts of the photo, this is more noticeable in landscape photos.
The Auto-HDR+ does a great job in leveling out exposure. For example, if you take a photo outside when it’s really bright the Auto HDR+ feature is responsible for capturing the appropriate levels of light and dark to make the photo look natural. This is ultimately determined by three factors, the ISO, the shutter speed, and the aperture.
Recording Videos On The Pixel 2
The Pixel 2 records 4K video at 30fps and it uses EIS (electronic image stabilization) as well as OIS (optical image stabilization) the end result is an extremely smooth, high-quality video. However, if you plan on shooting a video with lots of motion you will get better results with 1080p at 60fps.
