How To Sign Up For Google Voice:
You must have a Gmail account before you can sign up for Google Voice if you don’t already have one you can sign up for it here, it’s free.
You must also have a U.S. phone number.
When you click on sign in, in the upper right-hand corner you will be prompted to login to your Google Account.
At this time, you must enter your Gmail email address and password to login.
Then you will have to agree to Google’s terms and conditions and you will have the opportunity to set up a free Google Voice number.
Or use your existing cell phone number to send and receive calls and text messages.
You will have the option to forward your phone calls to your existing or new phone number.
After your Google Voice account has been activated, you must decide how you would like to use the free SMS feature.
You can use it on your computer or your smartphone. If you would like to use it on your smartphone you must download the Google Voice app and install it on your phone.
When you install the Google Voice app you will be prompted to allow Google to access your contacts.
You should say yes to this because this makes it easier for your family and friends to chat with you on Google Voice.
You can also opt to change the settings at a later time if you prefer to take some time to think about it.

To send a text with Google Voice via your computer you should follow the instructions below:
- Go to voice.google.com.
- Click the “Messages” button in the left column.
- Enter the number that you would like to text.
- Enter your message where it says “Type a message”.
- Then click “Send”.
That’s all you have to do to send a text with Google Voice on your computer.
How To Text With Google Voice On Your Phone:
To send a text with Google Voice via your phone you should follow the instructions below:
- Open the Google Voice app on your phone.
- Tap the messages icon located at the bottom.
- Tap the green circular icon to the right.
- Enter the name of the person on your contact list that you would like to text. If you gave Google permission to access your contacts. If you didn’t, then you must enter the phone number that you would like to send the text message to.
- Enter your text message where it says “Type a message”.
- Then tap the arrow icon located on the right to send the text.
